Save the Team - Try Team Building!

Growing a business is hard work, especially in the beginning. From the first goals put into a business plan through the process of hiring others to help you run the place, each and every decision is a panic attack waiting to happen. Then, the anxiety subsides a bit and you get to a “sweet spot” where everything is going perfectly. You’ve tweaked the plan, you’ve added to the team and you are secure in the results of your backbreaking work.

Then, it seems like it all falls apart, and that panic returns. Most of the time, a business seems to backslide through no fault of its own. There are economic factors, location issues, and a whirlwind of concepts that are simply out of the hands of most of us. Unfortunately, we are quick to blame the others around us for these kinds of hiccups, and while we hate the concept of employee turnover, it is natural to wonder which member of the team may not be carrying their share of the work.

Business success is rarely the accomplishment of one person, alone. It is the team effort that brings victory, despite the roller coaster of success and motivation. When you look at your business, you may see the bottom line and the missteps… but, if you change your perspective, you could be looking right at a team that is ready to rock through these troubled times. That team may even have a ton of insight into the navigation of your business. They could BE the solution to the problem… which is why you need to keep them around. Take a chance on (and FOR) your team… they’re the best assets your business has, especially when in those troubled times.

Changing your perspective on your team starts with the right team building activities. Get them out of the office and into an experience that will enhance communication, provide motivation and demonstrate how teamwork is fun!
