Office team building starts with you

Office team building starts with youMotivated employees are the best. Hands down, they’re just the best. There’s nothing better than walking through the office and seeing your staff communicate and work together… all for the good of the business. Short of a long line of “high fives,” as you make that magical walk, the next best result from such a spectacle is that your business is a success.

High five!

Now, back to reality. We all have those dreams where our business becomes a great success through the hard work of the team behind it. But, a dream cannot become a reality without a little, well, reality. Teams don’t just happen; teams are built, managed and motivated into an unstoppable force over time. So, when you’re ready to throw in the towel on your team (and, your business), just remember that you are the motivating force. You are the team building expert that your team needs for success. You just need a few extreme business makeover skills to get the balls rolling, the drums drumming or the motors running.

First, you need a goal, or a set of goals. Where do you want your business to be, and how can your team step up and get you there?

Second, what are you giving back to your team for them to feel appreciated, valued and more than a person you are paying to work?

Third, how well is your team working together, and where can you help improve that performance? Are you facilitating the success of your team, or are you standing in the way?

Lastly, what extremes are you willing to go to, in order for your team to succeed? Would you, perhaps, jump out of an airplane?

Just asking.

Team building in an office or business often gives you the answers to these questions before the games, activities and exercises begin. By then, the goals and motivation are already out there, working their pre-event magic in your mind, and the brains of your team. You no longer have to daydream about the office “high five” club, you get to witness it, first hand (no pun intended).
