Team building accountability
In a relay race, individual runners get the opportunity to shine, and each must deliver top performance in order to secure the best result from the group’s effort. Success results from understanding a teammate’s stride, rhythm and body positioning, honing effective communication, and deepening collaboration through practice. In a business or company, the same team dynamics apply, especially when the team has a focused, long-term plan for success. Team players impact the whole, the individuals and the outcomes.  It takes skill development and practice to make this impact hit success.

While some success can come from the business location, the products or services, or the overall management of employees, long-term success (and growth) is a development process. A team cannot develop without focused time to understand the dynamics and make choices about behavior and impact. This understanding comes from professional and personal growth – through team building and facilitation.  In a high performance relay team, each runner has a specific function or job to execute to help the team to cross the finish line – and – each runner understands the power of their role.  Each runner understands how that power can create success. Imagine if one runner is not aligned, does not understand their impact, or is not fully bought in. Without team building training, teams function with this lack of total engagement and it’s costly.

In today’s market, miscommunication and misalignment can quickly impact bottom line. The wide range of opportunities presented requires the ability to quickly form team-based approaches in to meet project goals and milestones, and secure the future of the business. Communication in a business is not only dependent on the culture of the company, but, also the engagement of the employees: do they care? By providing the professional and personal growth through team building and development programs, organizations learn to build a team process that invites individuals to bring their strengths and work though challenges with support. This feeling of value translates into higher productivity, innovation and creativity, which always enhances the culture of the business.

When the final relay runner crosses the finish line, there is not only applause and cheers from the audience, but, all members of the team who were a part of the race. Each leg of the race adds up to the overall success of the team and the shared celebration of success.  Team successes give each runner confidence to strive for even more success – it builds on itself. A successful business depends on the development of the team, leading each individual to meet goals, pass the baton to others seamlessly, and generate pride in a job well done.
